Onion Lover's Month Retail Display Contest Details
To enter, retailers are asked to create an attention-getting display that promotes Idaho-E. Oregon Onions. The contest is open to retail supermarket chains and independents only. Displays must be in place at least one week during the January 1 – January 31, 2010 contest period. The displays must be set up in the produce section of the store and must include the following: Idaho-E. Oregon Onions (bag/bulk or both) that have a clearly discernable label showing the Idaho-E. Oregon name.
Retailers can use the POS materials provided by the Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee and/or they may create their own display support materials. Creativity is encouraged! Entries are limited to one per store.
Entries are accepted by mail ONLY. Please include an official entry form or a copy of one with each photo identifying the entrant's name, address, store name and business phone number on the back. Digital or print photos are both accepted. However, Polaroids are strongly discouraged due to poor picture quality. Also accepted, is any other material such as newspaper ads, invoices, etc. that will verify the success of the display.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged and prizes awarded by the Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Lover's Month Retail Display Contest review committee. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: use of Idaho-E. Oregon Onion signage; creativity of the display; perceived success in generating incremental sales for those products; and, perceived impact on the produce section and the store. The decisions of the committee are final.

Prizes Awarded:
$25.00 Gift card will be awarded to all qualified entrants for use at Lowe’s, Starbucks or Target Stores
$2,000.00 - Grand prize (One Grand Prize winner awarded.)
$750.00 - First Prize (up to 10 First Prize Winners may be selected based on number of qualified entries.)
$500.00 - Second Prize (up to 10 First Prize Winners may be selected based on number of qualified entries.)
$250.00 - Third Prize (up to 10 First Prize Winners may be selected based on number of qualified entries.)

Here is how the program works:
An award in the form of a Visa gift card will be provided to participants based on loads purchased from one of our many Shippers located in the Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Growing Region A complete list of Shippers may be found at: www.BIGONIONS.com, or by requesting the list through our main office at:

The program works on a point system to calculate of the amount participants will receive in the form of a Visa gift card. Each load is equal to 8 points and each point is worth $1.00 in Visa gift card credits.
This year, the Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee will provide special incentives for first-time participants and for long-time members of the program:
1. First-Time participants will receive an extra 25 points for participating (must ship at least 3 loads to qualify for the First-Time Participant Points) 8 points per load for every load shipped.
2. 2-4 Year participants will receive 8 points per load.
3. Brokers that have participated in the program over 4 years will be awarded 10 points per load instead of the base rate of 8 points per load.
That's not all! In addition, a random drawing for the amount of $2,000.00 in Visa gift card credits will take place at the conclusion of the program and each participant’s name will be entered in the drawing for each load shipped from the area.
Please consider receiving these special benefits! It’s easy to participate. Just keep track of the purchases you have made since August 15 and those you will make through December 15, 2009. Then, complete the form listed on the back and remit with a copy of your invoices, no later than January 31, 2010. The random drawing and the Visa Gift cards will be awarded by February 28, 2010.
